Movies

I'm an asst. mgr. at a movie theatre. It would be the best job in the world if I had more time to watch movies. I love movies that can make me cry, laugh, scream, or think. If it has the ability to do that, then it is an excellent movie.
My ratings are simple. 5-EXCELLENT, 4-VERY GOOD, 3-GOOD, 2-OKAY, 1-BAD. Just remember, most people have different tastes. These are just my and my friends opinions. You are welcome to disagree or agree as you like. Also,
beware of spoilers. You have been warned. If you would like to send me your opinions then e-mail me at roapearl@diaryland.com and I'll put it up.

Light it Up R I think I cried through this whole movie. It really hit me that I have been very lucky not to have had to experience what the characters in this movie went through. Usher was surprisingly good in this. 4

The Matrix R This was an amazing scifi action movie. It's visual effects were awesome. But Keanu Reeves, ick! 4

Men In Black PG-13 This is a great sci-fi comedy with Will Smith. Funny and entertaining. Oh, and the special effects were superb. 4

Mickey Blue Eyes PG-13 I thought this movie was cute. Hugh Grant, Brit, yeah. The ending was a twist in itself. 3

The Mummy PG-13 I like Brandon Fraser. I've never seen the original movie, but I bet it wasn't as funny or riddled with great special effects. 3

The Mummy Returns PG-13 This was better than the first movie! It was funnier and more action-packed. It was great! Um... I don't know what else to say about it. 4

Mystery Men PG-13 Janeane Garafalo is so cool! Ben Stiller was funny too. I love movies about underdogs. 3
N
Notting Hill PG-13 This was a cute movie with Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts. She is so good at playing real women with real feelings and being believable. Another nod to the Brits for this one. 3 1/2

Ocean's 11 PG-13 Apparently this is a remake of a Rat Pack movie with the same title. I really liked this one even though it starred a lot of actors I don't really think are great. It was well done and funny, so it wasn't a total loss. Besides, they were really ingenious on how they planned their caper. 4

Outside Providence R A movie about growing up and learning to live by ones own rules. Mostly from a guys point of view. 3

The Patriot R This was a really good movie. I didn't enjoy the bloody bits, but it was a great story and well acted by Mel Gibson and company. It was long, but never boring. I suggest covering your eyes at the hacking a British soldier to death with a tomahawk scene. Ick! 4

Pay It Forward PG-13 This was one of the saddest movies I've ever seen. It was a real tear-jerker. I really admire the actors who played in this film. It wasn't hard to see why they had won Academy Awards in the past. I cried and laughed and this film made me think about stuff that I wouldn't normally think about. Wow! My ideal movie. 5

The Perfect Storm PG-13 The effects wowed me. Of course, I'm easily amused as well. The story line was slow and the acting could have been better. I still cried and that counts for something. 3 1/2

Plunkett & Macleane R Another British film. I liked this movie. Then again, I understand the social class clash and the jokes pertaining to them. I did laugh, even if others didn't. 3

Princess Bride PG This is one of my all time favorite movies. It's darling, funny, and has Cary Elwes. 5

Princess Mononoke PG-13 This anime was wonderful to watch. Not for children even though it is animated. 4 1/2

Pokémon: The First Movie G I too was sucked in by the Pokémon craze. It was like a long episode. I actually cried at one point. The moral was a good one but there is some scary parts that might not be for children. What do you expect from anime? 3
Q
R
Return to Neverland G The sequel to Disney's Peter Pan. It was pretty good for a sequel. I thought the war topic was a bit too much for children, but it is something to make people think. It also made me cry! A plus... 4

Robin Hood: Men in Tights PG-13 Another Mel Brooks film. I especially enjoy this one because of Cary Elwes. He has an English accent! 5

The Rocky Horror Picture Show R A cult classic. It's offensive, hilarious, has songs that one can never forget, and many British actors including the great Tim Curry. 4
